Our Approach
Since our foundation, we are dedicated to assisting children with activities that will enhance their daily independent living and social interaction skills, while also providing recreation. To do this, we have developed our own model of care- the THINC model.
THINC Model
Sánas is dedicated to providing an individualised service to all our services users using our THINC model of care:
Therapeutic, Holistic, Individualised, Nurturing and Child-centred.
T-Therapeutic
We are dedicated to providing an environment where all our service users and providers are treated with dignity and lead an enhanced quality of life. Therapeutic features in our assessment process through collaboration with families, schools and the Child Disability Network Team, is to establish a relationship that encompasses the service user’s goals.
H-Holistic
Our holistic approach involves an Interdisciplinary process involving the family. We endeavour to do this through
- Linking with services the service user attends and robust involvement in interdisciplinary meetings about service users.
- Working with the service users CDNT to support the child through a collaborative approach.
- Linking with the service users' school to ensure that plans are consistent across all settings.
I-Individualised
Sánas recognises that all our service users are individual, who have unique talents and skills. We aim to support all our service users to develop these skills through a variety of steps and processes.
N-Nurturing
Staff take great care in building trust and social relationships with service users. Staff in Sánas will provide care for each service user through the following way:
- Responsive and affectionate staff providing security, and safety for the service users.
- Accommodating for their individual needs and interests
- Encouraging the service user to explore their surroundings and acquire new skills
- Supporting the service user in discovering and establishing effective coping mechanisms, reducing stress levels.
- Emphasis on the rights of persons with disabilities – treatment with dignity, respect, empathy, warmth, positivity.
C-Child Centred
Putting quality of life at the forefront of our service:
In Sánas the service user is at the forefront of decisions. The service users Interests are at the centre of providing care, taking note of their interests through assessments and constant contact with other services and families
